We have completed initial
development of an automated procedure writing tool that
we can now execute for you, or with you on your own projects,
saving time and money. We are calling it 'ProcessWriter', which
is in two parts, and is written using Word and Excel. We are in
Houston, and would love to provide more information at your
convenience. |
|
|
The first part of the ProcessWriter
program is called 'BuildTree'. It builds folder structures and
procedure files from templates at run-time. All files and
folders derive their individual naming conventions from the data
set, which is in an Excel workbook. Folder and file names are
created automatically. The file names in fact are acronyms that
are automatically extracted from long unit and system names.
Data from the process list is used to build sentences, headers,
and footers on the fly. The tree and all files are built with a
single button click. |
|
|
|
With the procedures built, filed,
and partially populated, the 'FindIt / PlaceIt' part of the
ProcessWriter program is used to add content. That content is
also derived from the data set and is used to very quickly
author procedure documents with minimal typing, no typographical
errors and no document formatting errors. Equipment information
from a process list and common phrases used to author the
procedures come from the data set as well and are easily
accessible via drop down lists. Where the PC clipboard allows
for less than 20 clips, all of which disappear at PC shutdown,
'FindIt/PlaceIt' can deliver from 1 to 500 common phrases from
the data set. The phrases can be controlled by the writer or the
Company and are easily amended. |
